SCHOOLS POET

Projects and Workshops

I like to visit schools and do workshops with the children.  They hear my poetry and then I hear theirs.  It's such fun

I really hope that when the kids go home, they keep writing... at home or school or anywhere.  Especially when they're bored.  That's the best time to think of a silly, crazy, funny, sad, sweet, angry etc way to say something.

BOOK

I am working on a book called 'The worm who turned.... into a girl'

It's about a worm who wants to look like a girl, but when she does, she finds that it's not as much fun as the thought it would be.

So she changes...again

It includes a finger puppet and a poem.

PRODUCTION

In the summer hols of 2010, I will be working with a group of children to create a poetry musical.  The poems are very rhythmical and are about creatures...bugs, jungle animals, ghosts.   It's about shapes, numbers, the environment, maths science....I CAN'T WAIT!

Rhythm and Rhyme Magazine

My next project is a magazine which will have wordy games, poetry workshops, jokes, riddles and lots and lots of readers lyrics.  Young people will be able to send their letters, poems, songs and rhymes.  There will be competitions and much much more.  It will be monthly.  First edition...hopefully June 2010!

Puppet Show

At home, I'm making a puppet stage for my finger puppets.  It's a carboard box, painted and covered with felt and fringing.  I'm going to have to reinforce it with some thick card, and then decorate the inside.  Christmas tree lights will look good and the shows will be short and funny.  Watch this space to see how the stage progresses.
